I MADE THROUGH THE RAIN and HURRICANE IRENE

In celebration of Hurriane Irene's arrival and departure -- Barry Manilow singing "I Made It Through The Rain".
We made it through the rain in my neighborhood.  I'm sharing a photo of high tide causing a river on the street where I live -- thankfully no damage and the water receded almost as quickly as it arrived.  Thoughts out to all those who have gone through and are expecting Irene.

Bloomingdale's & Bergdorf Goodman Closed!

New York City is taking Hurricane Irene very seriously -- I have lived here my whole life and have never seen Bergdorf Goodman or Bloomingdale's boarded up!
Good luck to all of us on the East Coast!!

Waiting for HURRICANE IRENE

This has certainly been a strange week for this native New Yorker!  First tremors from an earthquake and now sitting nervously waiting for a direct hit from Hurricane Irene.  Though I appreciate the information, I have to say that the news coverage can be a bit overwhelming.  I totally understand better safe than sorry and that big stories are what news channels live for, but maybe toning down the dramatics of the newscasters would help those of us who are living through it!  Guys, some of us are really nervous, anxious -- however you want to describe it -- how about not talking about body bags being brought in -- do we really need to know this?  Talk about being an alarmist -- as my kids might say, "TMI"!
