THE RAINBOW BRIDGE POEM

 
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
 
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
 
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
 
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. Today is NATIONAL TEQUILA DAY

In celebration of National Tequila Day here is a recipe for one of my favorite cocktails from "back in the day" and my trips to Acapulco, the Tequila Sunrise!  Wow, brings back memories.


TEQUILA SUNRISE

11/2 oz Tequila
Orange juice
Grenadine
Fill a highball glass with ice. Add tequila and then fill with fresh orange juice. Top off with a splash of grenadine.

Father of BARBIE Dies

Elliot Handler, part owner of Mattel toys and the man credited with naming the BARBIE doll after his daugher has passed away at 95.  Mr. Handler's wife came up with the idea for the doll and he named her.  Barbie was soon followed by Ken, named after the Handler's son.

Today's Google "doodle" is courtesy of a collection of mobile sculpturess created by Alexander Calder.  I remember growing up in the '60's and '70's and seeing these fabulous mobiles or versions of them and even having one hanging in my bedroom.

Sir PAUL McCARTNEY Plays YANKEE STADIUM

Last night, Caramia's Collection had the good fortune of attending Paul McCartney's concert at Yankee Stadium.  Once again, Sir Paul did not disappoint -- singing and playing music for 2 1/2 hours!!  The audience was filled with representatives from every generation as proof that Beatles music was, is and will always be current and timeless and appeal to the masses.  The weather here in NY cooperated and the evening was one not soon to be forgotten.

Who Would Be Your Dream Concert?

As an avid Beatles fan since I first saw them on The Ed Sullivan Show, I would of course say the Beatles.  Since that is sadly no longer a possibility, I would have to say Sir Paul McCartney.  My dream is coming true tonight at Yankee Stadium -- will report back on what I know will be a concert of a lifetime!

Cheap & Chic TOILET PAPER WEDDING DRESS?

Apparently this contest has been going on for several years, but I have just come across it. Women are given the opportunity to create a wedding dress out of toilet paper and the grand prize is $1000.  I love creativity, I think crafting is fabulous and fun.  This though is a craft I am just not that sure about -- any thoughts?

Derek Jeter, Mr. 3000!!

As a native New Yorker, I am also a major Yankees fan.  So, once again, hats off to Derek Jeter and his 3000th hit as a New York Yankee. 

Also, hats off to the fan who caught the ball and did the right thing -- gave it back to the Yankees instead of trying to cash in.  He is a true fan and knows where the ball belongs.
