Fibromyalgia is an illness many have and suffer with in silence. It causes chronic, constant pain, cannot be cured only hopefully managed and goes hand and hand with other similar diseases. A very sad part of Fibromyalgia is that it "doesn't show". While that's great for the sufferer as they don't "look sick", it also sometimes gets them forgotten and misunderstood. They're thought of a "hypochondriacs" many times because they "look too good to be sick".
Today, May 12th is National Fibromyalgia Awareness day and this is written in support of those of us who suffer from this horrible illness silently. It is written in hopes that it will bring some understanding to those who are lucky not to have it and ask that they have empathy for those afflicted. This is also written to bring awareness to the medical community because better medications are desperately needed and even more importantly a cure needs to be found.
